About Racha Yai
Racha Yai is the main destination for beginner divers and the closest from Phuket with 1h30 cruise from Chalong pier. There is always a protected dives site around the island according to the swell direction, on the East cost from May to October and on Northern bays during high season from November to April. This situation allow the best dive conditions with light current and great visibilities all year long. This make the best place for beginners or divers that have been out water for a while.
The reef accessible to all and great for snorkelers as well start a 2 meters depth and slowly goes down to 30 meters, an artificial reef has been built and even 3 small wrecks on the east coast. The east coast offers the best dive sites on this island with visibilities often superior to 20 meters.
This destination is very popular and unfortunately there is often a lot of people and boats that disturb the quiet underwater world.
